Give Cadi O Suspension to your child orally, preferably at a fixed time, either before or after food. In case your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with food. The usually prescribed frequency is twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of intake, repeat the same dose but never double up the dose if it is time for the next dose. The dose and duration depend upon the type and severity of the infection, your child’s age, and body weight, so stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor.

Mechanism Of Action

Cadi O 50 MG Suspension works by stopping the action of a bacterial enzyme called DNA-gyrase. This prevents the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing them.

Pharmacokinets

The pharmacokinetics of ofloxacin are characterised by almost complete bioavailability (95 to 100%), peak serum concentrations in the range of 2 to 3 mg/L after a 400mg oral dose and an average half-life of 5 to 8h,The majority of metronidazole and its metabolites are excreted in urine and faeces, with less than 12% excreted unchanged in urine. The pharmacokinetics of metronidazole are unaffected by acute or chronic renal failure, haemodialysis, continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis, age, pregnancy or enteric disease.

Cadi O Suspension does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Indications

Ofloxacin+Metronidazole is used in the treatment of diarrhea and dysentery. Ofloxacin + Metronidazole is a combination of two antibiotics: Ofloxacin and Metronidazole. Ofloxacin works by preventing the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing the bacteria.

Interactions

This medicine may have an interaction with pain killers (ibuprofen or diclofenac,) anti-asthma (theophylline), anti-diabetic (glibenclamide), anti-gout (probenecid), anti-cancer (5-fluorouracil), antidepressant (lithium), antiepileptic (phenobarbital, phenytoin), and blood thinner (warfarin).

Effects Of Missed Dosage

Do not panic. You can give the missed dose as soon as you remember unless your child’s doctor has advised otherwise. Remember not to double the dose to catch up with the missed one. In case of any confusion, do consult your child’s doctor.

If your child develops diarrhea as a side effect, encourage them to drink plenty of water.

Cadi O Suspension may cause an altered taste. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help.

Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Cadi O Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.

Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions.

Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.

Discontinue Cadi O Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing.

Never save the medicine for future illnesses since its effectiveness in future infections cannot be guaranteed.

Q. What if I give excess Cadi O Suspension by mistake?

Although an extra dose of Cadi O Suspension will not have any side effects, you must always be vigilant. If you think you have given too much Cadi O Suspension to your child, immediately speak to a doctor. Overdose increases the risk of unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and rapid and irregular heartbeat. Rush to your child’s doctor on an immediate basis if you notice any of these symptoms.

Q. What should I do if my child shows no improvement even after taking Cadi O Suspension for the prescribed duration?

Ineffective treatment with Cadi O Suspension could mean that the medicine is not able to act against the infection-causing bacteria. In such a case, visit your child’s doctor who may prescribe some other antibiotic, having more specific action toward the infection-causing bacteria.

Q. Can other medicines be given at the same time as Cadi O Suspension?

Cadi O Suspension can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Cadi O Suspension. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.

Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Cadi O Suspension?

Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.

Q. What should I tell the doctor before giving Cadi O Suspension to my child?

Inform the doctor if your child is suffering from heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (allergy from sunlight), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This is because there is a possibility that Cadi O Suspension may aggravate these conditions and result in complications.

Q. My child has been passing red-brown urine ever since he started taking Cadi O Suspension. Is it normal?

Yes, it is normal. Cadi O Suspension contains an active ingredient called metronidazole which can cause red-brown urine. It is a harmless side effect. It will subside once the medicine is stopped after the completion of the treatment.

Q. My child is having a common cold. Is it safe to give Cadi O Suspension along with cough & cold medicines?

No, do not give Cadi O Suspension with cough and cold medicines as it can interfere with their working.
