Cadicitron 1.4gm/5ml Syrup is a urine alkalizer. It works by increasing the pH of urine which makes it less acidic. This helps the kidneys get rid of excess uric acid, thereby preventing gout and certain types of kidney stones.

Pharmacokinets

Disodium hydrogen citrate is metabolized after absorption to sodium bicarbonate. Oxidation is virtually complete, less than 5% of citrate is excreted unchanged in the urine.

DISODIUM HYDROGEN CITRATE is a urinary alkaliser indicated for the treatment of renal tubular acidosis, gout and kidney stones. Kidney stones are small, hard deposits made up of calcium, phosphate and other minerals/acid salts that stick together in concentrated urine.

Interactions

 It may increase the blood sodium levels especially when taken with drugs like corticosteroids. Use with caution with diuretics like furosemide since it can cause metabolic disturbances.
