Calaptin 40 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it regularly at a fixed time each day as advised by your doctor. Keep using this medicine even if you feel well. Calaptin 40 Tablet is a calcium channel blocker. It blocks the action of calcium on the heart and blood vessels, thereby widening the blood vessels and allowing more blood and oxygen to reach the heart. This reduces blood pressure and decreases the chances of angina (chest pain).
Intravenously administered Verapamil has been shown to be rapidly metabolized. Following intravenous infusion in man, verapamil is eliminated bi-exponentially, with a rapid early distribution phase (half-life about 4 minutes) and a slower terminal elimination phase (half-life 2-5 hours).
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Verapamil is indicated to treat hypertension, to treat and prevent chest pain (angina), supraventricular arrhythmia and atrial fibrillation/flutter, chronic atrial fibrillation, paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia (pediatric), and tardive dyskinesia.

If you miss a dose of Calaptin 40 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
