Calmperidone 6mg Tablet may be taken with or without food. However, it is advised to take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor and if you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. This medication mustn't be stopped suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may worsen your symptoms.

Mechanism Of Action

Iloperidone is an atypical antipsychotic, whose primary mechanism of action is the antagonism of certain receptors, such as dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-hydroxytryptamine (5HT) receptor 2A.

Pharmacokinets

Iloperidone is metabolized primarily by three biotransformation pathways: carbonyl reduction, hydroxylation (mediated by CYP2D6) and O-demethylation (mediated by CYP3A4). There are two predominant iloperidone metabolites, P95 and P88.

Indications

Iloperidone tablets are indicated for the treatment of adults with schizophrenia. Efficacy was established in two short-term (4- and 6-week) placebo- and active-controlled studies of adult patients with schizophrenia.

Interactions

ILOPERIDONE may interact with opioid pain relievers (codeine, hydrocodone), anti-anxiety drugs (alprazolam, lorazepam, zolpidem), muscle relaxants (carisoprodol, cyclobenzaprine), anti-allergic drugs (cetirizine), common cold medicines (diphenhydramine), mood disorders drugs (aripiprazole, clomipramine, clozapine, ziprasidone), anti-depressants (nefazodone, lithium), anti-psychotics (paliperidone, haloperidol, lurasidone, thioridazine, risperidone), HIV/AIDS drugs (ritonavir), blood pressure medicines (prazosin), respiratory drugs (atropine), and stomach related drugs (dicyclomine, scopolamine).

Effects Of Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose of Calmperidone 6mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
