CARBATOL 100MG TABLET belongs to a group of medicines called anti-convulsants or anti-epileptics used to treat epilepsy and trigeminal neuralgia (face nerve pain). CARBATOL 100MG TABLET works by reducing the electrical impulses and subsequent firing of the nerve impulses that cause fits.
After single oral doses of carbamazepine, the absorption is fairly complete and the elimination half-life is about 35 hours (range 18 to 65 hours). During multiple dosing, the half-life is decreased to 10-20 hours, probably due to autoinduction of the oxidative metabolism of the drug.
