Cardioxin 0.25mg Tablet restores and maintains a normal and steady heartbeat. It should be taken regularly as advised by the doctor. This medicine should not be stopped abruptly without consulting the doctor as this can worsen your condition. Regular follow-up with your doctor is advised while using this medicine.
Digoxin binds to and inhibits the sodium/potassium-ATPase (sodium pump) within the plasma membrane of cardiac myocytes. This inhibition increases the intracellular sodium content which in turn increases the intracellular calcium content which leads to increased cardiac contractility.
The main route of elimination is renal excretion of digoxin, which is closely correlated with the glomerular filtration rate. In addition, some tubular secretion and perhaps tubular reabsorption occurs. Nearly all of the digoxin in the urine is excreted unchanged, with a small part as active metabolites.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them
