It works by inhibiting the chemicals such as prostaglandins that cause inflammation. CHLORAMPHENICOL+DEXAMETHASONE is available for topical use in the form of eye/ear drops. You should take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor.
Most of a chloramphenicol dose is metabolised by the liver to inactive products, the chief metabolite being a glucuronide conjugate; only 5 to 15% of chloramphenicol is excreted unchanged in the urine. The elimination half-life is approximately 4 hours,The dose dependency of the pharmacokinetics of dexamethasone and its influence on the endogenous secretion of cortisol has been studied in healthy females. Do not wear contact lenses until your infection clears up.
