Exerts bactericidal activity via inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding one or more of the penicillin binding proteins (PBPs). Exerts bacterial autolytic effect by inhibition of certain PBPs related to the activation of a bacterial autolytic process.

Ampicillin is well-absorbed from the GI tract (though food reduces its absorption), and reaches peak concentrations in one to two hours. The bioavailability is around 62% for parenteral routes. AMPICILLIN+CLOXACILLIN is bactericidal in nature. It is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

DRUG-DISEASE INTERACTION: AMPICILLIN+CLOXACILLIN may have interactions with colitis (inflammation in the lining of the intestine or colon), bone marrow toxicity (blood cancer), and mononucleosis (viral infection with sore throat and fever).

Effects Of Missed Dosage
