Carpela Tablet can be taken with or without food. Take it at the same time every day as it will help you remember to take it. The dose and duration will depend on what you are being treated for, but you should always complete a full course of this medicine as prescribed by your doctor.
It treats PCOS symptoms such as acne, excessive hair growth (hirsutism) and irregular periods. Cyproterone works by blocking the overproduction of androgens (male hormones) in the ovaries, thereby reducing unwanted hair growth and acne.
Cyproterone acetate was absorbed completely. The maximum plasma level was reached between 30 minutes and 3 hours after administration. At this time 2.2 ± 0.6 % of the dose was found in total plasma, which corresponds to 24 ± 6 ng cyproterone acetate equivalents/ml,Ethinylestradiol has an intravenous clearance of 16.47L/h, and an estimated renal clearance of approximately 2.1L/h. A 30µg oral dose has a clearance of 58.0±19.8L/h and a 1.2mg topical dose has a clearance of 303.5±100.5L/h.

Carpela Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

Cyproterone acetate (CPA) 2 mg, combined with ethinylestradiol (EE) 35 μg, is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe acne related to androgen-sensitivity (with or without seborrhea) and/or hirsutism, in women of reproductive age.
Cyproterone works by blocking testosterone. Ethinyl estradiol is used to balance the effects of cyproterone on the menstrual cycle. This medication is used when other acne treatments have not worked.
Do not chew, crush or break it. Carpela Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Carpela Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Consult a doctor before taking any medicines.
Take your pill at the same time every day to help you remember to take it.
Do not use Carpela Tablet if you are obese, over 50, smoke, on prolonged bed rest or have a history of blood clots.
Stop taking it and inform your doctor if you notice unexplained swelling and pain in your limbs, shortness of breath, chest pain or changes in vision.
You may experience vaginal spotting (blood stain) or breakthrough bleeding while taking Carpela Tablet. This is temporary, inform your doctor if it lasts longer.
If your period fails to come within a week after completing your course, do not start the next course, before consulting your doctor.
It works as a contraceptive. So, do not use any additional hormonal contraceptives when using this medicine.

Carpela Tablet has to be started on day 1 or 2 of your menstrual cycle. Take it as per the duration advised by your doctor. However, it is recommended to take it at the same time of each day. This will ensure consistent levels of medicine in your body.
Q. What if I miss a dose of Carpela Tablet?
If you miss a dose, you should take it as soon as possible. If the dose was missed by more than 12 hours, you should not take the missed dose and simply continue the usual dosing schedule. However, to prevent pregnancy another non-hormonal birth control (like condoms) method should be used during this cycle. Frequent missing of doses, may also cause unexpected vaginal bleeding or spotting (blood stain). If it lasts long, consult your doctor.
Q. What if I vomit after few hours of taking Carpela Tablet?
If vomiting occurs within 3-4 hours of taking the tablet, you must repeat the dose.
Q. Does Carpela Tablet also work as a contraceptive?
Yes, if taken as advised, Carpela Tablet also acts as a contraceptive. Discontinue using any other birth control pill while taking Carpela Tablet.
Q. What are the common side effects of taking Carpela Tablet?
The most common side effects associated with Carpela Tablet are nausea, stomach pain, increased weight, headache, altered mood, and breast pain. Most of these symptoms are temporary. However, if they persist, check with your doctor as soon as possible.
