Cefkim 50mg Tablet DT is best given an hour before or two hours after meals as that ensures better absorption. In case your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with meals. The dose and duration depend upon the type and severity of the infection, so stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of the intake, give the same dose again but do not double dose if it's the time for the next dose.
Cefixime is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. This medication is known as a cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections.
Protein binding is 70 per cent. Cefixime is cleared, mainly unchanged, partly by the liver (60 per cent) and partly by the kidneys (40 per cent). The elimination half-life varies between 3 and 4 hours. Plasma concentrations increase linearly but not proportionally to doses.
Cefkim 50mg Tablet DT does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Cefkim 50mg Tablet DT is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
There is no 'do not drink alcohol' warning that applies to taking cefixime because it doesn't specifically affect the medicine itself. However, if you feel unwell with your infection or if you find cefixime gives you a headache or upset stomach then drinking alcohol could make this worse
It is unknown whether Cefixime passes into the breastmilk. Hence, it is advised to discontinue nursing temporarily if you are treated with C Fex Dt 50mg Tab . If you are taking this medicine while breastfeeding, watch for diarrhoea in your baby.

Some medicines can affect the way C Fex Dt 50mg Tab works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interactions.
Especially, if you are taking Carbamazepine (a medicine used to treat seizures) and blood thinners such as Warfarin.
C Fex Dt 50mg Tab may alter the clotting parameters and there is a risk of unusual bleeding.
Cefkim 50mg Tablet DT may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it’s almost time for the next dose. Do not give the double dose to catch up and follow the prescribed dosing schedule.

Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.

The doctor may prescribe getting kidney function tests and liver function tests periodically to keep a check on your child’s condition.

Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not mean that antibiotics are needed. During a common cold, it is normal for mucus to thicken up and change from clear to yellow or green. Symptoms often last for 7-10 days.
