Cefoxid 500mg Tablet DT may be taken with or without food. You should take it regularly at evenly spaced intervals as per the schedule prescribed by your doctor. Taking it at the same time every day will help you to remember to take it. The dose will depend on what you are being treated for, but you should always complete a full course of this antibiotic as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking it until you have finished, even when you feel better. If you stop taking it early, some bacteria may survive and the infection may come back. It will not work for viral infections such as flu or the common cold. Using any antibiotic when you do not need it can make it less effective for future infections.
Cefadroxil is a cephalosporin for oral administration which inhibits bacterial wall synthesis of actively dividing cells by binding to one or more penicillin-binding proteins. The result is formation of a defective cell wall that is osmotically unstable, and bacterial cell lysis
Pharmacokinetics. Cefadroxil is almost completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. After doses of 500 mg and 1 g by mouth, peak plasma concentrations of about 16 and 30 micrograms/ml, respectively, are obtained after 1.5 to 2.0 hours.

Cefadroxil is contraindicated in patients with cephalosporin hypersensitivity or cephamycin hypersensitivity. Cefadroxil should be used cautiously in patients with hypersensitivity to penicillin. The structural similarity between cefadroxil and penicillin means cross-reactivity can occur
Cefoxid 500mg Tablet DT is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
Consuming alcohol with Cefoxid 500mg Tablet DT does not cause any harmful side effects.
Cefoxid 500mg Tablet DT is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.
Avoid prolonged use of Cefoxid 500mg Tablet DT, since it may have possible effects such as rash and diarrhea.
DURICEF (cefadroxil) is indicated for the treatment of patients with infection caused by susceptible strains of the designated organisms in the following diseases: Urinary tract infections caused by E. coli; P. mirabilis, and Klebsiella species.

Dissolve it in a glass of water before taking it. Cefoxid 500mg Tablet DT may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Cefoxid 500mg Tablet DT, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
