You should use this medicine regularly at evenly spaced intervals as per the schedule prescribed by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening.
Ceftazidime is a semisynthetic, broad-spectrum, third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that is bactericidal through inhibition of enzymes responsible for cell-wall synthesis, primarily penicillin-binding protein 3 (PBP3).
The pharmacokinetics of ceftazidime were characterized by a half life of 0-8 to 1-9 h in six patients with GFR above 90 ml/min/1-73 m2 body area while the half life was 3-2-3-7 h in three patients with GFR between 47 and 54 ml/min/1-73 m2 body area.
