Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Ceham M 500 mg/750 mcg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: citicoline and methylcobalamin. Citicoline is a nerve protecting medicine. It works on the brain by nourishing the nerve cells, protects them from damage and improves their survival. Methylcobalamin is a form of vitamin B. It works by lowering the levels of homocysteine, a harmful protein which increases blood clot formation and damages blood vessels in the brain.

Pharmacokinets

Citicoline is water-soluble, with more than 90% oral bioavailability. Plasma levels peak one hour after oral ingestion, and a majority of the citicoline is excreted as CO 2 in respiration, and again 24 hours after ingestion, where the remaining citicoline is excreted through urine.Methylcobalamin is one of the two coenzyme forms of vitamin B12. Evidence indicates this form of vitamin B12, in addition to having a theoretical advantage over cyanocobalamin, actually has some metabolic and therapeutic applications not shared by the other forms of vitamin B12.
