Letrozole is an aromatase inhibitor used in the treatment of breast cancer. Aromatase inhibitors work by inhibiting the action of the enzyme aromatase, which converts androgens into estrogens by a process called aromatization.

Indications

Letrozole is indicated to treat postmenopausal women with hormone receptor (HR) positive early breast cancer, postmenopausal women with early breast cancer who have periviously been treated with tamoxifen, and postmenopausal women with HR+ or unknown advanced breast cancer.

Effects Of Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose of Celofem 2.5mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Estrogen stimulates the production of certain types of breast cancer in your body. These cancers are called "estrogen-dependent cancers". Reducing the production of estrogen may prevent cancer from growing.

Q. For how long should I take Celofem 2.5mg Tablet?

If the breast tumor is in the advanced stage or has spread to other parts of the body, it is recommended that you continue taking Celofem 2.5mg Tablet till the tumor shows progression. In cases where Celofem 2.5mg Tablet is given after tamoxifen (another anti-estrogen used for breast cancer) or surgery, it should be given for 5 years or until the tumor comes back, whichever is first. It can also be given as a sequential treatment; 2 years of Celofem 2.5mg Tablet followed by 3 years of tamoxifen.

Q. If I am taking irbesartan to control my blood pressure, can I take Celofem 2.5mg Tablet?

Yes, you can take irbesartan and Celofem 2.5mg Tablet together. However, be careful and keep a regular check on your blood pressure since Celofem 2.5mg Tablet may increase your blood pressure. Consult your doctor in case you have problems controlling your blood pressure.
