Adhere to the prescribed dose, time, and way while giving Centamol Plus Suspension to your child. Give it orally, preferably at a fixed time. It can be given before or after food, but giving it after food helps prevent the chance of developing an upset stomach. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medicine, give the same dose again. Avoid giving more than the recommended dose for fast relief as that may cause unwanted effects in your child.
Centamol Plus Suspension contains Mefenamic acid and paracetamol as its active ingredients. Both these ingredients are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Centamol Plus Suspension works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause fever, pain, and inflammation (redness and swelling)
Absorption. Mefenamic acid is rapidly absorbed after oral administration. In two 500-mg single oral dose studies, the mean extent of absorption was 30.5 mcg/hr/mL (17%CV). The bioavailability of the capsule relative to an IV dose or an oral solution has not been studied.
Paracetamol is readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract with peak plasma concentrations occurring about 30 minutes to 2 hours after ingestion. It is metabolised in the liver (90-95%) and excreted in the urine mainly as the glucuronide and sulphate conjugates. Less than 5% is excreted as unchanged paracetamol.
Centamol Plus Suspension does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine.
