Cephadex 125mg Syrup may be given with or without food. However, if your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with food. It is usually given three times a day but this may vary depending on the type and severity of the infection. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medicine, give the same dose again. Avoid giving a double dose if it is almost time for the next dose.
Cephalexin is a bactericidal agent that acts by the inhibition of bacterial cell-wall synthesis
Cephalexin is not metabolized in the body. Cephalexin is over 90% excreted in the urine after 6 hours 1 by glomerular filtration and tubular secretion Label,13,14 with a mean urinary recovery of 99.3%. Cephalexin is unchanged in the urine.
Cephadex 125mg Syrup does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Consult your child’s doctor if these side effects persist or bother your child. The most common side effects include-

Cephadex 125 MG Syrup is generally safe in pregnancy to treat bacterial infections. It is not known to cause birth defects when taken by pregnant women
You should avoid consuming alcohol while taking Cephadex Syrup, as it may worsen the side effects such as dizziness or nausea
Cephadex 125mg Syrup passes into the breastmilk in small amounts, thus you should be cautious when using Cephadex Syrup while breastfeeding.

Cefalexin is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections (RTI's), urinary tract infections (UTI's), skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media and other infections due to sensitive organisms. The dosage is 1-4 g daily in divided doses.

Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not give a double dose to catch up. Follow the prescribed dosing schedule strictly.
Consult a doctor before taking any medicines.
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
Contact your doctor if your child has diarrhea that goes on for more than 4 days or if it is severe and watery, or contains blood.
Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. This medicine is not to be taken in such cases.
Only give Cephadex 125mg Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
You may see white patches inside your child’s mouth and throat after a prolonged intake of Cephadex 125mg Syrup. This could be due to a fungal infection. So, if your child develops any such effect, contact your doctor right away.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Cephadex 125mg Syrup may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

A single extra dose of Cephadex 125mg Syrup is unlikely to do any harm. However, if you think you have given too much of Cephadex 125mg Syrup to your child, immediately speak to a doctor. Overdose may cause unwanted side effects and may even worsen your child’s condition.
Q. Can Cephadex 125mg Syrup cause any serious side effects?
Yes, Cephadex 125mg Syrup may rarely cause some serious side effects. These may include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy, severe diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. If your child develops any such unwanted effects, consult your child’s doctor.
Q. Can other medicines be given at the same time as Cephadex 125mg Syrup?
Cephadex 125mg Syrup can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Cephadex 125mg Syrup. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Cephadex 125mg Syrup?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.

Cephadex 125mg Syrup is an antibiotic and its use may affect or compromise the good bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby increasing the risk of developing other infections. In case your child experiences diarrhea while being on treatment with Cephadex 125mg Syrup, do not abruptly stop the medicine course. Instead, call your child’s doctor to ask about the next steps.
