Cereptal 150mg Tablet may be used alone or in combination with other medicines. The dose and how often you need to take it will be decided by your doctor so that you get the right amount to control your symptoms. It may be increased gradually. You can take this medicine with or without food but take it at the same time each day to get the most benefit. It usually takes a couple of weeks to work. It is important to take this medicine regularly and for as long as you are advised, even if you feel well. Missing doses may trigger seizures and, if you stop, your condition may get worse. It should never be stopped suddenly.
Oxcarbazepine binds to sodium channels and inhibits the high-frequency repetitive neuronal firing. Oxcarbazepine also inhibits the release of glutamate. This medication gets metabolized by the liver and excreted by the kidneys
The bioavailability of the oral formulation of oxcarbazepine is high (>95%). It is rapidly absorbed after oral administration, reaching peak concentrations within about 1-3 hours after a single dose, whereas the peak of MHD occurs within 4-12 hours
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Oxcarbazepine is an anticonvulsant. It works by decreasing nerve impulses that cause seizures and pain. Oxcarbazepine is used either alone or with other medicines to treat partial seizures. The Trileptal brand of oxcarbazepine is used as a single medicine in adults and children who are at least 4 years old
Using oxcarbazepine with other drugs that make you drowsy can worsen this effect. Ask your doctor before using opioid medication, a sleeping pill, a muscle relaxer, or medicine for anxiety or seizures. Sometimes it is not safe to use certain medications at the same time
Do not chew, crush or break it. Cereptal 150mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

If you miss a dose of Cereptal 150mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
