Give this medicine to your child orally with or without food in the dose, time, and way prescribed by your child’s doctor. It could either be prescribed alone or in combination with other medicines. The allergic symptoms may subside after your child has taken the initial few doses of Cetcip Cold 5mg Tablet. In case of serious allergic conditions, your child may have to continue taking the medicine for a week or two. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medicine, repeat the same dose after your child feels better. But, refrain from doing so if it is already time for the next dose.

Mechanism Of Action

Cetirizine is a non-sedating antihistamine that works by blocking histamine (H-1) receptors on cells. It is similar to the other second generation antihistamines loratadine (Claritin), fexofenadine (Allegra) and azelastine

Pharmacokinets

The pharmacokinetics of cetirizine have been found to increase linearly with dose across a range of 5 to 60 mg. Its Cmax following a single dose has been found to be 257 ng/mL for 10 mg and 580 ng/mL for 20 mg

Cetcip Cold 5mg Tablet does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Though cetirizine is safe to use to treat perennial allergic rhinitis and urticaria in adults and children over the age of 6 months, it is indicated for the treatment of seasonal allergies in adults and children two years and older. Cetirizine is also safe to use in the geriatric population

Effects Of Missed Dosage

Do not panic. Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, administer the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not give a double dose to catch up on any missed dose, follow the prescribed dosing schedule strictly.

Your child may feel sleepy or dizzy after each dose of Cetcip Cold 5mg Tablet. If this happens, make your child sit or lie down and ask them to be careful while performing tasks that require mental focus.

Avoid giving Cetcip Cold 5mg Tablet with fatty meals and fruit juice as both can reduce the absorption of the medicine.

Dry mouth can occur as a side effect of taking Cetcip Cold 5mg Tablet. Taking sips of water may help.

Cetcip Cold 5mg Tablet can trigger constipation in your child. Give plenty of fluids and a fiber-rich diet to your child.

Cetcip Cold 5mg Tablet should be avoided in children who are less than 4 years of age as there is a risk of respiratory distress.
