Cetemed AM Tablet is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.
The main mechanism of action for ambroxol involves stimulation of surfactant synthesis, a complex mechanism that is not yet fully understood [15], but that gives ambroxol effective mucokinetic and secretagogue properties, thus promoting mucous clearance, facilitating expectoration and easing productive cough
Cetirizine is in a class of medications called antihistamines. It works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms
The pharmacokinetics of cetirizine have been found to increase linearly with dose across a range of 5 to 60 mg. Its Cmax following a single dose has been found to be 257 ng/mL for 10 mg and 580 ng/mL for 20 mg
Bioavailability of ambroxol administered orally is approximately 70–80%. The distribution half-life of ambroxol is 1.3 hours, metabolite is dibromoanthranilic acid (activity unspecified) and Elimination of ambroxol is biphasic, with an alpha half-life of 1.3 hours and a beta half-life of 8.8 hours

Cetirizine is contraindicated in anyone with a known hypersensitivity to it or any of its ingredients. Cetirizine is also contraindicated in anyone with a known hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine, as cetirizine is a metabolite of hydroxyzine
There are no other specific contraindications for administration of ambroxol however caution is advised in patients of gastric ulceration
Cetemed AM Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Cetemed AM Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.
Cetemed AM Tablet is unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby.
Cetemed AM Tablet is a combination medicine used in the treatment of cough. It relieves allergic symptoms such as sneezing, running nose, watery eyes, itching, swelling, and congestion or stiffness. It also thins and loosens mucus, making it easier to cough out
If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Cetemed AM Tablet may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Cetemed AM Tablet may interact with the following drugs and products:
Alcohol
Antibiotics
Sedatives
Do not chew, crush or break it. Cetemed AM Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Cetemed AM Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Consult a doctor before taking any medicines
This combination medicine helps relieve runny nose, sneezing and productive cough.
Drink extra fluids to help loosen the congestion and lubricate your throat while you are taking this medication.
Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as Cetemed AM Tablet can cause dizziness and sleepiness.
Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine as it may cause increased sleepiness.
Stop taking Cetemed AM Tablet at least three days before taking an allergy test as it can affect the test results.
Inform your doctor if your cough persists for more than 14 days

Q. Can I drink alcohol while taking Cetemed AM Tablet?
No, avoid drinking alcohol while taking Cetemed AM Tablet. Drinking alcohol will increase the severity of drowsiness/sleepiness caused by Cetemed AM Tablet.
Q. Can I breastfeed while taking Cetemed AM Tablet?
No, it is not advisable to breastfeed while using Cetemed AM Tablet. This medicine contains Cetirizine, an antihistamine, which can pass into the breast milk and may harm the baby. Inform your doctor that you are breastfeeding if you are advised to take this medicine.
Q. Can the use of Cetemed AM Tablet cause sleepiness or drowsiness?
Yes, Cetemed AM Tablet may make you feel drowsy or sleepy. Do not drive car, operate machinery, work at heights or participate in potentially dangerous activities until you know how the medicine affects you. Inform your doctor if you experience such episodes while you are taking this medicine.
Q. Will Cetemed AM Tablet be more effective if taken in more than recommended dose?
No, taking a higher than the recommended dose may not be more effective, rather it may increase the chances of having serious side effects and toxicity. If the recommended dosage does not relieve your symptoms or there is an increased severity of your symptoms, please consult your doctor.
Q. Can the use of Cetemed AM Tablet cause dry mouth?
Yes, the use of Cetemed AM Tablet can cause dry mouth. If you experience dry mouth, drink plenty of water. Take regular sips during the day and keep some water by your bed at night.
