Chlorfid 6.25mg Tablet makes you lose excess water through urine. It may be used alone or in combination with other medicines. This medicine should be taken only during day time to avoid frequent urination at night. You must take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor and never stop it abruptly without consulting the doctor. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel ill, but if you stop taking this medicine, your condition could get worse. This may lead to your blood pressure rising again and increase your risk of heart disease and stroke.
Chlorthalidone inhibits sodium reabsorption at the level of the distal convoluted tubule and thus chloride via inhibition of the Na/Cl symporter. By removing sodium reabsorption at this location, the distal convoluted tubule of the nephron retains a higher sodium content
Pharmacokinetics. Chlortalidone is slowly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract after oral ingestion. It has a long half-life and therefore a prolonged diuretic action, which results in continued diuretic effects despite a skipped dose

If you miss a dose of Chlorfid 6.25mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Take it in the morning with breakfast to avoid getting up at night to urinate.
It makes you feel dizzy. Avoid driving and attention requiring activity until you know how it affects you.
Avoid alcohol intake while taking Chlorfid 6.25mg Tablet as it may increase the dizziness.
It may cause a sudden drop of sodium level in blood. Avoid low sodium diet while you are taking this medication.
Monitor your blood pressure after starting Chlorfid 6.25mg Tablet, and notify your doctor if it does not lower down.
Notify your doctor if you experience dizziness, tiredness, or muscle weakness that does not go away.

No, do not take alcohol while on treatment with Chlorfid 6.25mg Tablet. Taking alcohol with Chlorfid 6.25mg Tablet may lower your blood pressure suddenly making you feel dizzy and lightheaded.
Q. What happens if I take more than the recommended dose of Chlorfid 6.25mg Tablet?
If you take more than the prescribed dose of Chlorfid 6.25mg Tablet, you may experience nausea, lightheadedness, weakness, fast or irregular heartbeat, sleepiness, muscle cramps and pain, difficulty in breathing. Taking this medicine in high doses may even cause a heart attack. In a situation like this, contact your doctor immediately or seek emergency help in a nearby hospital.
Q. Can I take ibuprofen with Chlorfid 6.25mg Tablet?
This combination is best avoided since the two medicines may interfere with each other. However, if your doctor advises you to take both ibuprofen and Chlorfid 6.25mg Tablet, you will need to keep a regular check on your blood pressure and also monitor your kidney function tests.

Yes, Chlorfid 6.25mg Tablet may raise uric acid levels. However, the occurrence of gout due to Chlorfid 6.25mg Tablet is very rare.

No, there have been no reports of Chlorfid 6.25mg Tablet causing skin cancer. However, in rare cases, this medicine can make the skin more sensitive to sunlight than usual. If you are exposed to direct sunlight you may get skin rash, so wear protective clothing and use sunscreen.
