Chlorocain Ear Drop helps to improve your symptoms and cure the underlying infection. Follow your doctor’s instructions precisely for administering this medicine in the ear. Wait for at least 5 minutes before applying any other medication to the same ear. It should be used regularly at evenly spaced time intervals as prescribed by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening.
Chloramphenicol is an antibacterial agent with a broad spectrum of activity against gram-positive bacteria, gram-negative bacteria, and Rickettsia. Its mechanism of action is by inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis by binding with ribosomes
Most of a chloramphenicol dose is metabolised by the liver to inactive products, the chief metabolite being a glucuronide conjugate; only 5 to 15% of chloramphenicol is excreted unchanged in the urine. The elimination half-life is approximately 4 hours

Chloramphenicol is contraindicated in individuals with a history of previous hypersensitivity and/or toxic reaction to it. It must not be used in the treatment of trivial infections or where it is not indicated, as in colds, influenza, infections of the throat
Chlorocain Ear Drop is safe to use during pregnancy. Most studies have shown low or no risk to the developing baby.

Hold the dropper close to the ear without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside ear.
Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Chlorocain Ear Drop, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
Consult a doctor before taking any medicines
You have been prescribed Chlorocain Ear Drop for the treatment of bacterial infections of the ear.
Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.
Do not touch the tip to any surface, or to your ear, to avoid contamination.
It should not be used for longer than one week.
Lie with the affected ear uppermost for at least ten minutes after putting the drops to avoid the drops running out.
Discard after 4 weeks of opening the bottle.

Usually, Chlorocain Ear Drop starts working soon after taking it. However, it may take some days to kill all the harmful bacteria and make you feel better.

Inform your doctor if you don't feel better after finishing the full course of treatment. Also, inform him if your symptoms are getting worse while using this medicine.
Q. Can I stop taking Chlorocain Ear Drop when my symptoms are relieved?
No, do not stop taking Chlorocain Ear Drop and complete the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured.
