Cilnidipine 5mg Tablet may be prescribed alone or along with other medicines. The dose depends on the severity of your condition. You can take it at any time of day, with or without food, but it is best to take it at the same time each day. Keep taking it for as long as advised by your doctor. Do not stop this medicine on your own, even if you feel well because high blood pressure often has no symptoms. This makes it hard to identify any sudden spike and if you stop taking it, your condition may get worse.Keeping active with regular exercise, reducing your weight, and eating a healthy diet will also help control your blood pressure. Follow your doctor’s advice while taking this medicine.
Cilnidipine 5mg Tablet is a calcium channel blocker. It works by relaxing the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily around your body. This lowers your blood pressure and reduces your risk of having a stroke, a heart attack, or kidney problems in the future.
Cilnidipine presents a very rapid absorption with a maximum peaked concentration after 2 hours. Its distribution tends to be higher in the liver as well as in kidneys, plasma and other tissues. Cilnidipine does not present a high accumulation in the tissue after repeated oral administration.

If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Cilnidipine Tablet may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Cilnidipine Tablet may interact with the following drugs and products:
Aldesleukin
Antihypertensive drugs
Antipsychotic drugs
Carbamazepine
Cimetidine
Erythromycin
Phenytoin
Quinidine
Rifampin
Do not chew, crush or break it. Cilnidipine 5mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

If you miss a dose of Cilnidipine 5mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
