Citapure 5mg Tablet helps recover from depression by improving mood and relieving anxiety and tension. It can be taken with or without food. The dose and how often you need it will be decided by your doctor based on the amount needed to control your symptoms. Your doctor may start you on a lower dose and increase it gradually. Do not change the dose or stop taking it without talking to your doctor, even if you feel well. Doing so may make your condition worse or you may suffer from unpleasant withdrawal symptoms (anxiety, restlessness, palpitations, dizziness, sleep disturbances, etc).
Escitalopram increases intrasynaptic levels of the neurotransmitter serotonin by blocking the reuptake of the neurotransmitter into the presynaptic neuron.
The single- and multiple-dose pharmacokinetics of escitalopram are linear and dose-proportional in a dose range of 10 to 30 mg/day. Biotransformation of escitalopram is mainly hepatic, with a mean terminal half-life of about 27-32 hours.

Escitalopram is indicated for both acute and maintenance treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) and for the acute treatment of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). It is additionally indicated for symptomatic relief of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in Canada.
Some products that may interact with this drug include: other drugs that can cause bleeding/bruising (including antiplatelet drugs such as clopidogrel, NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, "blood thinners" such as warfarin). Aspirin can increase the risk of bleeding when used with this medication.
Do not chew, crush or break it. Citapure 5mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

If you miss a dose of Citapure 5mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
