Clobetasol propionate exerts its effect by binding to cytoplasmic glucocorticoid receptors and subsequently activates glucocorticoid receptor mediated gene expression. This results in synthesis of certain anti-inflammatory proteins, while inhibiting the synthesis of certain inflammatory mediators
Some researchers have found that suppression of cortisol levels is still apparent 96 hours after topical use of this medicine, which implies that clobetasol can stay in your system for long periods of time, possibly for up to a few weeks. Q. Does Clomight Cream cause severe skin reactions?
Severe skin reactions are quite rare with Clomight Cream. Clomight Cream is an anti-inflammatory drug which is used to treat skin diseases, skin reactions and eczemas. However, skin reactions can occur in a person who is hypersensitive to Clomight Cream. It is important to leave the affected area open after applying Clomight Cream as using occlusive dressings (air- and water-tight dressing) can lead to skin reactions. The medicine may not itself cause a reaction but the added excipients with the medications can lead to a reaction in some cases. Inform your doctor immediately in case you encounter any skin reactions.

In the pediatric population, there is an increased risk of suppression of the immune system which may make the child prone to other diseases and atrophic changes, hence it is not recommended. Still, in some rare cases, the doctor may recommend this medicine, but the treatment is usually limited to 5 days and the therapy is reviewed weekly.

The doctor will withdraw the use of Clomight Cream and provide appropriate antimicrobial therapy.
