Clopigard 75mg Tablet is prescribed to people at high risk of heart disease. This includes people with peripheral vascular disease (blood circulation problems due to narrowing of blood vessels), recent heart attack or stroke, irregular heartbeats, and those who have undergone certain heart procedures like stenting. It is also used in combination with some other medicines for the treatment of heart attack and some types of heart-related chest pain (unstable angina).
The active metabolite of clopidogrel selectively inhibits the binding of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to its platelet P2Y12 receptor and the subsequent ADP- mediated activation of the glycoprotein GPIIb/IIIa complex, thereby inhibiting platelet aggregation. This action is irreversible
In the liver, approximately 15% of absorbed clopidogrel is metabolized by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) system to generate its active metabolite via a 2-step bioactivation process, whereas the rest 85% is hydrolyzed by carboxylesterase 1 (CES1) to an inactive carboxylic acid derivative.

If you miss a dose of Clopigard 75mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Clopigard 75mg Tablet increases your risk of bleeding. Be careful while shaving, using sharp objects, or cutting fingernails or toenails.

Additionally, avoid taking Clopigard 75mg Tablet if you are trying to get pregnant, already pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Yes, you can take alcohol with Clopigard 75mg Tablet. However, excessive intake of alcohol should be avoided as it can irritate the inner lining of the stomach and this increases the risk of developing a stomach ulcer later.
Q. Can Omeprazole be taken along with Clopigard 75mg Tablet?
Omeprazole ( a proton pump inhibitor or PPI used to treat and prevent indigestion) may interfere with the working of Clopigard 75mg Tablet and reduce the effect of Clopigard 75mg Tablet. Your doctor may prescribe an alternate PPI like lansoprazole, if you suffer from indigestion or if they judge that it would be beneficial to you. You should let your doctor know about all the medicines that have been prescribed to you before starting Clopigard 75mg Tablet. Always consult your doctor before taking any medicine.
Q. What are the side effects of taking Clopigard 75mg Tablet?
The most common side effect of Clopigard 75mg Tablet is bleeding. This may lead to bruising on the skin, nosebleeds, blood in the urine or stools (black tarry stools), or heavier periods than usual in females. Rarely, bleeding may also occur in the head, eyes, lungs, or joints and may even be severe. In case you have a minor injury, such as a small cut while shaving, bleeding may take longer than usual to stop. Get emergency medical help if the bleeding is profuse, does not stop on it’s own, or bothers you. Other side effects of Clopigard 75mg Tablet that may be seen occasionally in some people include diarrhea, abdominal pain, indigestion or heartburn. Clopiogrel starts working within 2 hours of taking it. Continue taking it as long as your doctor has advised you. You may have to take it for a few weeks or months, or you may have to take it for the rest of your life.
