Mechanism Of Action

Metoclopramide is principally a dopamine D2 antagonist but also acts as an agonist on serotonin 5-HT4 receptors and causes weak inhibition of 5-HT3 receptors

Pharmacokinets

Metoclopramide is rapidly and well absorbed. Relative to an intravenous dose of 20 mg, the absolute oral bioavailability of metoclopramide is 80% ± 15.5% as demonstrated in a crossover study of 18 subjects. Peak plasma concentrations occur at about 1 to 2 hr after a single oral dose

Metoclopramide is used to relieve heartburn and speed the healing of ulcers and sores in the esophagus (tube that connects the mouth to the stomach) in people who have gastroesophageal reflux disease

Interactions

Some products that may interact with this drug are: antipsychotic drugs (such as aripiprazole, haloperidol), atovaquone, dopamine agonists (such as cabergoline, pergolide, ropinirole), fosfomycin, MAO inhibitors (isocarboxazid, linezolid, metaxalone, methylene blue, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, rasagiline

Effects Of Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose of Clopram 25mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
