Codroxil 125mg Tablet may be given with or without food. However, if your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with food. The dose and duration of the medicine will depend on the type and severity of the infection. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medicine, give the same dose again but do not double dose if it is almost time for the next dose.
Cefadroxil is a cephalosporin for oral administration which inhibits bacterial wall synthesis of actively dividing cells by binding to one or more penicillin-binding proteins. The result is formation of a defective cell wall that is osmotically unstable, and bacterial cell lysis.
Cefadroxil is almost completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. After doses of 500 mg and 1 g by mouth, peak plasma concentrations of about 16 and 30 micrograms/ml, respectively, are obtained after 1.5 to 2.0 hours.

Cefadroxil is used to treat bacterial infections in many different parts of the body. It belongs to the class of medicines known as cephalosporin antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth. However, this medicine will not work for colds, flu, or other virus infections
Acyclovir The excretion of Acyclovir can be decreased when combined with Cefadroxil.
Adefovir dipivoxil The risk or severity of nephrotoxicity can be increased when Adefovir dipivoxil is combined with Cefadroxil.
Do not chew, crush or break it. Codroxil 125mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Store below 30°C
Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not give a double dose to catch up. Follow the prescribed dosing schedule strictly.
Consult a doctor before taking any medicines
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Give Codroxil 125mg Tablet with food to avoid an upset stomach.
Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. This medicine is not to be taken in such cases.
Only give Codroxil 125mg Tablet to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.

Q. What if I overdose my child by mistake?
A single extra dose of Codroxil 125mg Tablet is unlikely to do any harm. However, if you think you have given too much of Codroxil 125mg Tablet to your child, immediately speak to a doctor. Overdose may cause unwanted side effects and may even worsen your child’s condition.
Q. Can Codroxil 125mg Tablet cause any serious side effects?
Yes, Codroxil 125mg Tablet may rarely cause some serious side effects. These include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy, severe diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Always consult your child’s doctor for help in such a situation.
Q. Can other medicines be given at the same time as Codroxil 125mg Tablet?
Codroxil 125mg Tablet can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Codroxil 125mg Tablet. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Codroxil 125mg Tablet?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
