Colihenz Tablet may be taken with or without food. However, it is advised to take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Your dose depends on your age and the condition you are being treated for. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Do not stop taking it suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may worsen your symptoms.
Colihenz Tablet acts by increasing the release of a brain chemical called phosphatidylcholine, responsible for performing various brain functions. This helps to improve brain functioning in various conditions.It also acts by inhibiting the release of free fatty acids at the stroke site.
Citicoline is water-soluble, with more than 90% oral bioavailability. Plasma levels peak one hour after oral ingestion, and a majority of the citicoline is excreted as CO 2 in respiration, and again 24 hours after ingestion, where the remaining citicoline is excreted through urine.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Citicoline is taken by mouth or given as an injection to help memory loss due to aging, improve vision in people with glaucoma, and help with recovery in stroke patients. It is also used for Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease, bipolar disorder, lazy eye, and other conditions of the brain.
CITICOLINE alter the effect of antiparkinsonian drugs (levodopa, carbidopa, and entacapone) when given with it. The effectiveness of CITICOLINE is altered when given with another nootropic (meclofenoxate). Drug-food interactions: No interactions found.

If you miss a dose of Colihenz Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Colihenz Tablet is a form of an essential nutrient called choline which is naturally present in the body. There are no studies to determine the effect of alcohol on treatment with Colihenz Tablet. However, since Colihenz Tablet is prescribed for stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, head injury, and age-related memory impairment, it is best to avoid the consumption of alcohol.
Q. Can students take Colihenz Tablet to improve memory and learning?
No, students should not take Colihenz Tablet since studies show that Colihenz Tablet is effective only in age-related memory problems, memory problems associated with long-standing stroke, and in Alzheimer’s disease. Moreover, there is no data available for use of this medicine in children.
Q. What is the role of Colihenz Tablet in stroke?
In cases of stroke caused due to blood clots, taking Colihenz Tablet orally can help the patient recover completely within 3 months. Also, giving Colihenz Tablet either intravenously (injecting the medicine in vein directly) within 12 hours of having a stroke or daily for 7 days after the stroke can help the patient recover sooner.
