Combilox LB Kid Tablet is a prescription medicine. It is advised to take it as per the prescription. It can be taken with or without food, but it must be taken at a fixed time to ensure better efficacy. Do not consume more than the recommended dose, as this may have harmful effects on your body. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. The course of the treatment must be completed even if you feel better. Sudden discontinuation of the treatment may affect the potency of the medicine.

Mechanism Of Action

Exerts bactericidal activity via inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding one or more of the penicillin binding proteins (PBPs). Exerts bacterial autolytic effect by inhibition of certain PBPs related to the activation of a bacterial autolytic process

Some lactobacilli and bifidobacteria can produce antimicrobial peptides known as bacteriocins, which prevent the proliferation of selected pathogens

Pharmacokinets

Ampicillin is well-absorbed from the GI tract (though food reduces its absorption), and reaches peak concentrations in one to two hours. The bioavailability is around 62% for parenteral routes. Unlike other penicillins, which usually bind 60–90% to plasma proteins, ampicillin binds to only 15–20%.

Cloxacillin is an antibiotic agent used for the treatment of beta-hemolytic streptococcal and pneumococcal infections as well as staphylococcal infections. A semi-synthetic penicillin antibiotic which is a chlorinated derivative of oxacillin

Lactobacillus acidophilus is a probiotic that is used to help maintain the number of healthy bacteria in your stomach and intestines.

Contra Indications

infectious mononucleosis (viral infection with sore throat and fever) leukaemia (blood cancer).

Lactobacillus preparations are contraindicated in persons with a hypersensitivity to lactose or milk. S. boulardii is contraindicated in patients with a yeast allergy. No contraindications are listed for bifidobacteria, since most species are considered nonpathogenic and nontoxigenic

Indications

AMPICILLIN+CLOXACILLIN is a broad-spectrum antibiotic which is used to treat various bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, bones, lungs, and post-operative wound infections.

Lactobacillus is taken by mouth to treat and prevent diarrhea, including infectious types such as rotaviral diarrhea in children and traveler's diarrhea. It is also taken by mouth to prevent and treat diarrhea associated with using antibiotics


Interactions

AMPICILLIN+CLOXACILLIN is bactericidal in nature.AMPICILLIN+CLOXACILLIN may have interaction with antibiotics with sulphonamides (sulfamethoxazol/trimethoprim, sulfadiazine and sulfisoxazole), other antibiotics (azithromycin, gentamycin), anticoagulants (warfarin), anti-gout which decreases uric acid

Lactobacillus has no known moderate interactions with other drugs. Lactobacillus has no known mild interactions with other drugs. Effects Of Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose of Combilox LB Kid Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.

Discontinue Combilox LB Kid Tablet and inform your doctor immediately if you get a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or have difficulty in breathing.

It is advisable to drink plenty of fluids and a healthy diet while taking the medicine.

It may cause dizziness. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how the medicine affects you.

Avoid consuming alcohol while taking medication as it may cause increased side effects.
