Comzid 80mg Tablet may be prescribed alone or along with other medicines. It should be taken with food. Take it regularly at the same time each day to get the most benefit. Your doctor will decide what dose is best for you and this may change from time to time according to how it works.
Gliclazide stimulates insulin secretion through the beta cell sulphonylurea receptor, and possibly through a direct effect on intracellular calcium transport. It specifically improves the abnormal first phase insulin release in type 2 diabetes, and also has an effect on the second phase.
A single oral dose of 40 to 120 mg of gliclazide results in a Cmax of 2.2 to 8.0 µg/ml within 2 to 8 hours. Tmax and cmax are increased after repeated gliclazide administration. Steady state concentration is achieved after 2 days administration of 40 to 120 mg of gliclazide.
