Coolgut Tablet PR may also be used to treat another type of bowel disease known as Crohn’s ileocolitis. It should be taken with food. The dose will depend on what you are being treated for but take it exactly as your doctor prescribes. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen.
The mechanism of action of mesalazine as an anti-inflammatory drug is diverse. It appears to act locally on colonic mucosa and reduces inflammation through a variety of anti-inflammatory processes. Several potential targets of 5-ASA action have been proposed

If you miss a dose of Coolgut Tablet PR, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

You have been prescribed Coolgut Tablet PR for treating and lowering the symptoms of mild inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis.
Your doctor may monitor your kidney and liver functions before you start treatment with this medicine and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you have severely decreased kidney or liver function.
Do not take Coolgut Tablet PR if you are allergic to aspirin or if you have blood disorders.
Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor.
Use it as advised by your doctor or check the label for directions before use. Coolgut Tablet PR is to be taken with food.

Continue to take Coolgut Tablet PR as advised by the doctor, even if you feel better at the beginning of your treatment. Do not stop taking Coolgut Tablet PR without consulting your doctor.
Q. Can I drink alcohol while taking Coolgut Tablet PR?
You should avoid alcohol if you have ulcerative colitis, as alcohol will irritate your stomach and intestine which will worsen your condition. Although alcohol does not interfere with the working of Coolgut Tablet PR, you should consult your doctor before taking alcohol.

Yes, Coolgut Tablet PR may cause joint pain. If the pain continues and bothers you inform your doctor.
