Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Hydroquinone + Mometasone + Tretinoin is used for the short-term treatment of mild to moderate melasma. It helps reduce scars, marks, blemishes, and dark circles under the eyes. It should always be used along with sun-avoidance measures, like using sunscreens and wearing protective clothing.

Pharmacokinets

Hydroquinone is absorbed through the skin and metabolized primarily to sulfate and glucuronide conjugates, which are excreted in the urine. Additional metabolites include benzoquinone, multiple glutathione conjugates, and N-acetyl cysteine conjugates.

Mometasone furoate is a corticosteroid drug that can be used for the treatment of asthma, rhinitis, and certain skin conditions Label 12,13. It has a glucocorticoid receptor binding affinity 22 times stronger than dexamethasone and higher than many other corticosteroids as well 2.

The principal mechanisms proposed to explain the increased disappearance of tretinoin from plasma include: (i) decreased intestinal absorption; (ii) enhanced enzymatic catabolism; and (iii) the induction of cytoplasmic retinoic acid binding proteins (CRABP), which leads to increased drug sequestration.
