Covatil CV 250 mg/125 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine. It is advised to take it as per the prescription. It can be taken with or without food, but it must be taken at a fixed time to ensure better efficacy. Do not consume more than the recommended dose, as this may have harmful effects on your body. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. The course of the treatment must be completed even if you feel better. Sudden discontinuation of the treatment may affect the potency of the medicine.
Covatil CV (250/125 mg) Tablet is an antibiotic that contains cefuroxime and clavulanic acid. Cefuroxime works by preventing the formation of bacterial cell walls, thereby stopping the infection to spread. Clavulanic Acid reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefuroxime against bacteria.
Excretion of cefuroxime in the urine was almost complete in 24 h, the clearance being 150 ml/min/1.73m2. About 45% was excreted through the renal tubules. The injections were well tolerated and no changes in haematological or biochemical values were seen.Clavulanic acid along with amoxicillin is well absorbed from stomach after oral administration without having any impact of fasting and fed state on the pharmacokinetics of amoxicillin. While relative bioavailability of clavulanic acid becomes reduced when administered after 30 and 150 min of high fat breakfast.

Consuming alcohol with Covatil CV 250 mg/125 mg Tablet does not cause any harmful side effects.
Covatil CV 250 mg/125 mg Tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.

This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Covatil CV Tablet may interact with the following drugs and products:

Do not chew, crush or break it. Covatil CV 250 mg/125 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

If you miss a dose of Covatil CV 250 mg/125 mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
