CPZ 25 Tablet is also used for controlling intractable hiccups, feeling or being sick (nausea), and autism (learning and communication difficulties). This medicine belongs to a group of drugs known as phenothiazines, which act on the central nervous system. It alters the thoughts and elevates the mood, improving the person’s ability to think, feel and behave.
The antiemetic effect of chlorpromazine stems from the combined blockade of histamine H1, dopamine D2, and muscarinic M1 receptors in the vomiting center
Pharmacokinetics. The pharmacokinetics of chlorpromazine is also not fully understood and varies per the individual and route of administration. However, the kidneys excrete approximately 43-65% of the daily dose within 24 hours. There are 5 clinically important metabolites, 4 of which are biologically active.

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with CPZ 25 Tablet.
CPZ 25 Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
If the CPZ 25 Tablet is given, monitor the baby for excessive sleepiness during breastfeeding.
Schizophrenia (primarily the positive symptoms)
Bipolar I acute manic type of manic-depressive illness.

Take it at night to avoid feeling sleepy during the day.
Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how CPZ 25 Tablet affects you.
To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
Do not drink alcohol while taking CPZ 25 Tablet as it can cause serious breathing problems.
Inform your doctor if you notice involuntary muscle movements.
Monitor your weight during the treatment as CPZ 25 Tablet can cause weight gain.
Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. CPZ 25 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Q. Is CPZ 25 Tablet a benzodiazepine/sleeping tablet?
CPZ 25 Tablet is not a benzodiazepine. It belongs to a class of medicines called phenothiazine antipsychotics. CPZ 25 Tablet should not be used as a sleeping tablet

It is used in patients with schizophrenia but it relieves anxiety too at certain levels
