Crestor 5mg Tablet is a widely prescribed medicine and is regarded as safe for long-term use. It can be taken with a meal or on an empty stomach. You can take it at any time of the day but try to take it at the same time each day. Most people with high cholesterol do not feel ill, but stopping your medicine may increase your cholesterol levels, making your condition worse and increasing your risk of heart disease and stroke.
Rosuvastatin is in a class of medications called HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins). It works by slowing the production of cholesterol in the body to decrease the amount of cholesterol that may build up on the walls of the arteries and block blood flow to the heart, brain, and other parts of the body
The oral bioavailability of rosuvastatin is 20%, which is comparable to atorvastatin, pravastatin and fluvastatin, and qualitatively higher than simvastatin and lovastatin. After a single oral dose the peak plasma concentration is reached at 5 hours.
