Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Critipime T Injection is a combination of two medicines: Cefepime and Tazobactum. Cefepime is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria in the human body. Tazobactum is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which blocks the action of enzymes produced by bacteria to inactivate cefepime. Addition of Tazobactum reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefepime against bacteria.

Pharmacokinets

Pharmacokinetic studies indicate that cefepime exhibits linear pharmacokinetic behaviour. Pharmacokinetic variables are not significantly different between single- and multiple-dose administration, indicating a lack of drug accumulation in patients with normal renal function. It works by killing bacteria that cause infection. Tazobactam is in a class called beta-lactamase inhibitor. It works by preventing bacteria from destroying piperacillin. Antibiotics such as piperacillin and tazobactam injection will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.
