Mechanism Of Action

Cyclid 2.5mg Tablet is a muscle relaxing medication. It works by decreasing the activity of excess acetylcholine in the brain. This improves muscle control and reduces stiffness. It helps patients with Parkinson's disease by improving muscle control and reducing stiffness so that they can move more naturally. It is also used to treat movement disorder (restlessness, involuntary movements or muscle spasm ) which can be caused by certain drugs.


Pharmacokinets

After oral dosing the mean peak plasma concentration was 116 ng/ml and mean bioavailability was 75%. After both oral and intravenous dosing the mean values for the volume of distribution, total body clearance and plasma elimination half-life of procyclidine were in the order of 1 l/kg, 68 ml/min and 12 h respectively.

Indications

Procyclidine is indicated in all forms of Parkinson's disease: idiopathic (paralysis agitans), post encephalitic and arteriosclerotic.

Interactions

Aclidinium. Both Procyclidine and Aclidinium can cause antimuscarinic effects.

Amantadine. Both Procyclidine and Amantadine can cause antimuscarinic effects.

Amitriptyline.

Atropine.

Baclofen.

Chlorphenamine.

Chlorpromazine.

Clemastine.

Effects Of Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose of Cyclid 2.5mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Q. How can I identify overdose symptoms?

In case of an overdose, you may experience fast heartbeat, agitation, restlessness, confusion, insomnia (severe inability to sleep), excitement (although occasionally people may feel anxious and aggressive), and disorientation. If eyes are exposed to light then the pupils in the eye may not open or close and hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not real) may also occur. In severe cases, you may feel very sleepy, fall into unconsciousness, or into a coma. If you experience any such symptoms contact your doctor or seek immediate help from the nearest hospital emergency department.
