Darcept 40 Injection is an erythropoiesis-stimulating agent (ESA). It works by stimulating the bone marrow (soft tissue inside the bones which produces red blood cells) to produce more red blood cells.
A long terminal half-life characterizes the pharmacokinetic profile of darbepoetin alfa following both IV and SC administration. The most recent pharmacokinetic studies using sampling times of 27 or 28 days established that the mean terminal half-life of darbepoetin alfa is 70–105 h when administered SC.
