Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Gentamicin is bactericidal and is a broad spectrum antibiotic (except against streptococci and anaerobic bacteria). Its mechanism of action involves inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis by binding to 30S ribosomes

Beclomethasone is used to prevent and control symptoms (wheezing and shortness of breath) caused by asthma. This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as corticosteroids. It works by reducing the swelling of the airways in the lungs to make breathing easier.

Clotrimazole exerts its action primarily by damaging the permeability barrier in the fungal cytoplasmic membrane. Clotrimazole thereby inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol in a concentration-dependent manner by inhibiting the demethylation of 14 alpha lanosterol

Pharmacokinets

Gentamicin is bactericidal and is a broad spectrum antibiotic (except against streptococci and anaerobic bacteria). Its mechanism of action involves inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis by binding to 30S ribosomes

Rapidly absorbed from pulmonary, nasal, and GI tissue. Undergoes extensive first-pass metabolism in the liver. Protein binding: 87%. Primarily eliminated in feces.

After vaginal treatment with clotrimazole, the small fraction absorbed into the systemic circulation--between 3% and 10% of the dose--is subjected to metabolism and excretion as after oral or intravenous administration. The vaginal availability of clotrimazole is largely dependent on the formulation applied
