Deecee 50mg Syrup should be used in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It should be taken with food, preferably at a fixed time. Avoid skipping any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Simply take the next dose as planned.
Some people may experience a headache, dizziness, vomiting, and abnormal liver function tests as the side effects of this medicine. The mechanism of action of diethylcarbamazine is thought to involve sensitizing the microfilariae to phagocytosis. One study showed that diethylcarbamazine's activity against Brugia malayi microfilariae is dependent on inducible nitric-oxide synthase and the cyclooxygenase pathway.
Diethylcarbamazine is well absorbed following oral administration with peak plasma concentrations reached within 1-2 hours. The elimination half life ranges from 10-12 hours. If the urine is alkalinized, renal excretion of unchanged drug is prevented and the half life of the drug increases
