Give Demoxin 125 mg/125 mg Dry Syrup either with or without food but it is best to give it with food if it upsets your child’s stomach. It is generally given three times a day. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor as these depend on the severity of the infection, its type, and your child’s body weight and age. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, repeat the dose when your child feels better. However, do not double the dose if it is the time for the next dose.
Amoxicillin is similar to penicillin in its bactericidal action against susceptible bacteria during the stage of active multiplication. It acts through the inhibition of cell wall biosynthesis that leads to the death of the bacteria.

Antibiotic medicines can cause diarrhea, which may be a sign of a new infection. If you have diarrhea that is watery or bloody, call your doctor before using anti-diarrhea medicine.

Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it’s almost time for the next dose. Do not give a double dose to catch up and follow the prescribed dosing schedule.

Complete the entire course of antibiotics without stopping the medicine in between. Doing so may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.

Therefore, do not alter the dose and duration on your own and give Demoxin 125 mg/125 mg Dry Syrup to your child exactly as prescribed. Additionally, irregular treatment, repeated use, and misuse of Demoxin 125 mg/125 mg Dry Syrup can make the bacteria resistant.
Q. Are there any possible serious side effects of Demoxin 125 mg/125 mg Dry Syrup?
Although rare, Demoxin 125 mg/125 mg Dry Syrup may cause some serious side effects such as persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Always consult your child’s doctor for help in such a situation.

Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Demoxin 125 mg/125 mg Dry Syrup ?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Q. The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
In the common cold, the mucus changes its color and thickens up with time, but this does not mean that your child needs antibiotics. Common cold symptoms often last for 7-10 days. In case they fail to clear up within this duration, reach out to your child’s doctor for guidance.

No, do not give this medicine to your child in this case as a high percentage of children with infectious mononucleosis develop a skin rash (erythematous rash) while taking Demoxin 125 mg/125 mg Dry Syrup.

It is advised not to give Demoxin 125 mg/125 mg Dry Syrup to children if they have jaundice. The reason being, Demoxin 125 mg/125 mg Dry Syrup contains an active ingredient called cloxacillin which can aggravate the symptoms of jaundice in your child.
