Depten OZ 20 mg/5 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor and if you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. It is important that this medication is not stopped suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may worsen your symptoms.
Presynaptic serotonin (5HT1A) receptors are in the dorsal raphe nucleus and project to the prefrontal cortex. Fluoxetine exerts its effects by blocking the reuptake of serotonin into presynaptic serotonin neurons by blocking the reuptake transporter protein located in the presynaptic terminal
Olanzapine is an atypical (second-generation) antipsychotic that exerts its action primarily on dopamine and serotonin receptors. It works on dopamine D2 receptors in the mesolimbic pathway as an antagonist, blocking dopamine from potential action at the post-synaptic receptor
Fluoxetine has a nonlinear pharmacokinetic profile. Therefore, the drug should be used with caution in patients with a reduced metabolic capability (i.e. hepatic dysfunction). In contrast with its effect on the pharmacokinetics of other antidepressants, age does not affect fluoxetine pharmacokinetics
The pharmacokinetics of olanzapine are linear and dose-proportional within the approved dosage range. Its mean half-life in healthy individuals was 33 hours, ranging from 21 to 54 hours. The mean apparent plasma clearance was 26 L/h, ranging from 12 to 47 L/h.

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Depten OZ 20 mg/5 mg Tablet.
Depten OZ 20 mg/5 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Fluoxetine is indicated for both acute and maintenance treatment of major depressive disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and bulimia nervosa; however, it is only indicated for acute treatment of panic disorder independent of whether agoraphobia is present.
Olanzapine is also FDA approved for the following indications: Acute treatment of manic or mixed episodes of bipolar disorder. Maintenance (long-term) treatment of bipolar disorder. Acute treatment of agitation in schizophrenia and bipolar disorder
The major fluoxetine-drug interactions involve the amino acids L-dopa and L-tryptophan, anorexiants, anticonvulsants, antidepressants, anxiolytics, calcium channel blockers, cyproheptadine, lithium salts, and drugs of abuse. Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Depten OZ 20 mg/5 mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

You have been prescribed Depten OZ 20 mg/5 mg Tablet for the treatment of bipolar disorder with depression.
Take it in the evening as it can make you feel sleepy.
It may take 4 to 6 weeks to experience the full benefits of the medication.
Don't drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
It may cause increase in weight, blood sugar, cholesterol, and triglycerides (fat). Eat healthy and exercise regularly.
Talk to your doctor if you notice sudden mood changes or develop suicidal thoughts.
