Mechanism Of Action

Etofylline is a derivative of theophylline. It works by dilating and relaxing the airway muscles. Theophylline decreases swelling in the lungs of asthma patients and helps to relieve the feeling of blockage

Pharmacokinets

Its plasma decay after intravenous administration shows two-compartment kinetics with a rapid distribution.Theophylline distributes rapidly into fat-free tissues and body water. 40% is bound to plasma proteins, primarily to albumin, although blood pH values, the plasma protein content and the administration of concomitant drugs may vary this fraction.
