Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Mechanism of action Desloratadine is a non-sedating, long-acting histamine antagonist with selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonist activity. After oral administration, desloratadine selectively blocks peripheral histamine H1-receptors because the substance is excluded from entry to the central nervous system

Pharmacokinets

Desloratadine is well absorbed from the gut and reaches highest blood plasma concentrations after about three hours. In the bloodstream, 83 to 87% of the substance are bound to plasma proteins. Desloratadine is metabolized to 3-hydroxydesloratadine in a three-step sequence in normal metabolizers.
