Detrim 20mg Injection is given as an injection under the medical supervision of a doctor. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you.
Drotaverine is a selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4), which is an enzyme responsible for the degradation of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). Inhibition of PDE4 leads to elevated levels of cAMP, leading to smooth muscle relaxation.
Drotaverine is mainly eliminated via hepatic metabolism. About 67% of the drug is found in feces and 20% of the drug was eliminated with urine. Following oral administration of a single 80 mg dose, the mean half-life was 9.11 ± 1.29 hours. Following an intravenous dose of 80 mg, the mean half-life 9.33 ± 1.02 hours.

Generally, this drug is considered safe; however, it is contraindicated in patients with severe renal, liver, and heart failure and also in children. Nausea, headaches, dizziness, arrhythmias, hypotension, and allergic reactions were also noted

The indications to drotaverine administration include contractions of the biliary ducts, urinary tract, and digestive smooth muscles; also dysmenorrhea and imminent abortion.
Drug-Drug Interactions: DROTAVERINE may interact with anti-Parkinson (levodopa), painkillers, anti-muscarinic drugs, and benzodiazepines

If you miss a dose of Detrim 20mg Injection, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

Detrim 20mg Injection helps relieve pain due to smooth muscle spasms such as menstrual pain, pain due to kidney stone, and colicky pain.
Take it as per dose and duration suggested by your doctor.
It may cause a drop in your blood pressure. Monitor your blood pressure regularly and inform your doctor if you have a history of low blood pressure.
Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as Detrim 20mg Injection may cause dizziness.
Inform your doctor if you have severe kidney, liver, or heart disease.
