Diarsec 2mg Tablet is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.
The most common side effects are headache, nausea, and constipation. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. It may also cause dizziness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can worsen your sleepiness.
Diarrhea can cause water loss and electrolyte imbalance, so drink plenty of fluids to help keep yourself hydrated. It is important to avoid this medicine if you have blood in your stool or if you are severely constipated.
Diarsec Tablet contains loperamide, an antidiarrhoeal medicine as its active ing. It is used to treat diarrhoea and acts by decreasing the frequency of stools. Diarsec is not used to treat diarrhoea caused due to other reasons or other types of diarrhoea.
Loperamide increases the tone of the anal sphincter, thereby reducing incontinence and urgency. Pharmacodynamics Loperamide prolongs the transit time of the intestinal contents. It reduces daily fecal volume, increases the viscosity and bulk density, and diminishes the loss of fluid and electrolytes.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Diarsec 2mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.
Diarsec 2mg Tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.
Medical use: The FDA approved loperamide for the treatment of various forms of diarrhea, including traveler's diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome associated with chronic diarrhea, acute nonspecific diarrhea in patients two years of age and older, and is indicated for reducing ileostomy output.
If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Diarsec Tablet may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Diarsec Tablet may interact with the following drugs and products:
Aripiprazole
Cetirizine
Chlorpheniramine
Clemastine
Diphenhydramine
Hyoscyamine
Do not chew, crush or break it. Diarsec 2mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for
your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

You have been prescribed Diarsec 2mg Tablet for the treatment of diarrhea.

Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as Diarsec 2mg Tablet can cause dizziness and sleepiness.
Stop taking the medication as soon as your symptoms are relieved.
