Diominic Dca Tablet is used in the treatment of nasal and sinus congestion, sinus pain, and headache. It is also used to provide relief of allergic symptoms of the nose/throat due to upper respiratory tract allergies. Take Diominic Dca Tablet in the exact dose and duration as prescribed by your doctor. Before starting this medicine, inform your doctor if you are pregnant/breastfeeding and about your complete medical history.
Diominic Dca Tablet contains a combination of paracetamol, phenylephrine, chlorpheniramine, and caffeine as active substances.Paracetamol is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine (NSAID) that blocks the action of a chemical called cyclooxygenase. Cyclooxygenase is responsible for the formation of certain substances in the body called prostaglandins that cause fever, pain and inflammation.Chlorpheniramine is an anti-allergic medicine that blocks certain proteins in the body that are responsible for causing itching of the nose/throat, watery eyes, runny nose and sneezing due to respiratory allergies.Phenylephrine produces constriction of the blood vessels of the nose which reduces the fluid accumulation and clears the nasal blockage.Caffeine increases the pain-relieving activity of paracetamol and reduces the incidence of drowsiness due to chlorpheniramine.
Caffeine is rapidly and completely absorbed within an hour following ingestion. It is distributed throughout body water and readily crosses cell membranes including the brain. Its primary mechanisms for stimulatory activity appear to be the blocking of adenosine receptors and inhibition of phosphodiesterases.Chlorpheniramine has a serum half-life of approximately 20 hours in adults, and elimination from the body is primarily by metabolism to monodesmethyl and didesmethyl compounds. The half-life is increased in the presence of renal dysfunction and decreased in children. It distributes rapidly and evenly throughout most tissues and fluids and has a volume of distribution of approximately 0.9L/kg. 10 to 20% of the drug is bound to red blood cells. Paracetamol is extensively metabolised (predominantly in the liver), the major metabolites being the sulphate and glucuronide conjugates.Phenylephrine is readily and completely absorbed from the gastro-intestinal tract after oral administration [1, 8]. It is subject to extensive presystemic metabolism in the gut wall and therefore has a systemic bioavailability of approximately 40% relative to intravenous dosing.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them
