Dioset Injection will not relieve other side effects associated with cancer treatments. It is given under the supervision of a doctor and may be used alone or with other medications. Your doctor will give you appropriate dose depending on what you are taking it for. It is important that you keep having the injections until your doctor decides it is safe to stop them. After this, your doctor may prescribe tablets instead of the injections.
Ondansetron is an anti-sickness medicine, also known as an antiemetic. It is a serotonin receptor antagonist. It is prescribed to stop you from feeling sick (nauseated). It works by blocking the effect of a naturally produced chemical in your body, called serotonin.
Ondansetron is completely and rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract after oral administration, and does not accumulate with repeated oral administration. Owing to hepatic first-pass metabolism, its bioavailability is only about 60% compared with ondansetron administered by infusion over 15 minutes.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Contraindications. Ondansetron is contraindicated in patients: known to have hypersensitivity (e.g., anaphylaxis) to Ondansetron or any of the components of the formulation [see Adverse Reactions (6.2)] receiving concomitant apomorphine due to the risk of profound hypotension and loss of consciousness.
Dioset Injection is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
Consuming alcohol with Dioset Injection does not cause any harmful side effects.
Dioset Injection is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Ondansetron is indicated for the prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with: highly emetogenic cancer chemotherapy, including cisplatin greater than or equal to 50 mg/m 2. initial and repeat courses of moderately emetogenic cancer chemotherapy.
Some products that may interact with this drug are: apomorphine, tramadol. Many drugs besides ondansetron may affect the heart rhythm (QT prolongation), including dofetilide, pimozide, procainamide, amiodarone, quinidine, sotalol, macrolide antibiotics (such as erythromycin), among others.

If you miss a dose of Dioset Injection, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

You have been prescribed Dioset Injection for prevention of nausea and vomiting caused after surgery or due to chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
It is given as an injection into veins or as drip under the supervision of a doctor.
Avoid heavy meals and try eating small nourishing snacks throughout the day. Also, sip water regularly to help avoid dehydration.
It may cause an application site reaction like redness, swelling, and pain. Consult with your doctor if it bothers you.

Dioset Injection starts working within half an hour to 2 hours. It dissolves rapidly into the bloodstream and starts showing its effect.
Q. What are the side effects of Dioset Injection?
The most common side effects of Dioset Injection are constipation, diarrhea, fatigue and headache. However, these are usually not bothersome and resolve on their own after some time. Consult your doctor if these persist or worry you.

No, Dioset Injection does not work for seasickness. This is because Dioset Injection has very little effect on the nausea associated with motion sickness.
