Most people with high blood pressure do not feel ill, but if you stop taking this medicine, your condition could get worse. This is a widely used medicine and is considered safe for long-term use.

Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Valsartan blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in many tissues, such as vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland.

Pharmacokinets

Valsartan is an orally active, potent, and specific angiotensin II type 1 (AT 1) receptor blocker (3). The AT 1 receptor mediates all known cardiovascular actions of angiotensin II, including vasoconstriction, aldosterone secretion, and sympathetic stimulation.
