Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Diozyme Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Pancreatin and Dimethicone. Pancreatin is a digestive enzyme that helps in digestion of food. Dimethicone is an antifoaming medicine which disintegrates gas bubbles and allows easy passage of gas.

Pharmacokinets

Pancreatin contains high levels of biologically active pancreatic enzymes (lipase, amylase, and protease). The enzymes catalyse the hydrolysis of fats into glycerol and fatty acids, proteins into proteases and derived substances, and starch into dextrins and sugars. As dimethicone is pharmacologically inert and it is not absorbed, pharmacokinetic studies regarding the volume of distribution are not relevant. Dimethicone 410 does not bind to plasma proteins as it is not absorbed. Dimethicone 410 is not metabolized and it is excreted unchanged.
